Welcome!‎ > ‎

Board 2009-2010

President
Emily Ellis

Hometown: San Mateo, California
Major: 4th year, Biology major
About me: I own practically every Disney movie ever made (and still watch them on VHS, old school style!). My favorite activities include laughing, eating, and reading. Oh, and I am very organized! To the point that it's slightly alarming.
Goal: I would love to foster a greater sense of community within Bruin Belles, and I hope to do this by exploring new ideas as an organization. We are all incredibly gifted young women with unique talents, and I want us to work with other service organizations to share the mission of BBSA with the UCLA campus.

Philanthropy
Andi Christmas
Hometown: Riverside, California
Major: 4th year, History and World Arts and Culture-Dance majors
About me: Hey Ladies! I am one half of the Philanthropy Office for the 2009-2010 school year. I have been in Belles since my very first year, and it is probably my favorite thing about UCLA! Serving others is a major passion of mine, but it isn't my only love. I also love food (eating and cooking), travel, and of course dance (hence my major).
Goal: I am looking forward to a great year, and I hope to forge new relationships with charities and philanthropic groups, as well as continue to develop those long lasting bonds we have created with various organizations over the years.

Jessica Buford
Hometown: Lemoore, California
Major: 2nd year, Religious Studies major and Russian minor
About me: Hello all! I'm a small town girl living in the big city. I've been told I'm a little ridiculous. =) I'm definately a fan of fro-yo, finger painting, foreign languages, and being a Belle.
Goal: For this year, I hope to foster creativity and a sense of purpose within the Philathropy office. I would love for each Belle to feel as though they are able to serve others while doing the things that matter the most to them.

Secretary
Kim Held
Hometown: San Mateo, California
Major: 4th year, History major with Anthropology minor
About me: I love HGTV, Forrest Gump, Gilmore Girls and being creative. I'm hilarious when people don't ask for it but can never crack a joke on queue.
Goal: I hope to strengthen the BBSA community through meaningful philanthropic work, as well as fun, social activities. I also hope to increase BBSA's presence on campus, while keeping in mind our organization's fundamental goals.

Treasurer
Christine West

Hometown: Castro Valley, California
Major: 2nd year, Psychology major
About me: I love to laugh and can never resist the opportunity to slide in a sarcastic comment. I might be one of the few people who can genuinely say that they listen to ALL kinds of music. My ipod has everything from The Eagles to E-40 to Jackie Greene to Mickey Avalon to Rise Against. I'm vegetarian and have a huge weakness for tiramisu.
Goal: As Treasurer I will work to increase the money we raise for the many wonderful charities BBSA supports. Through events such as open mic nights and other events that reach out to the UCLA community I hope to establish fun and prosperous new ways to fundraise.

Public Relations
Andriana Trang
Hometown: Danville, California
Major: 2nd year, Economics major
About me: I like dancing, Yogurtland, lying by the pool with friends, and baking random things in the kitchen. I love being active and filling up my days, but on those lazy days, you'll probably find me watching a variety of TV shows (which you'll have to ask me about because there are way too many I watch).
Goal: I want to increase BBSA's profile on campus as a women's leadership and philanthropy organization. Also, I want to bolster the sense of community within our organization.

Social
Danielle Layous
Hometown: Clovis, California
Major: 3rd year, Global Studies major with French minor
About me: I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain (well, sort of). Also, I love Star Wars, shoes, True Blood, and baking delicious treats. I hate possums. Most importantly, I love Belles and cannot wait to get to know all of you!!!
Goal: As Social Director, I hope to make our entire organization more unified. I think that if we are all friends, or are at least familiar with one another, we will have more fun and, in turn, increase motivation to go above and beyond within the organization and the fabulous work that we do.

Women's Leadership
Nicole Chow
Hometown: Diamond Bar, California
Major: 4th year, Neuroscience major
About me: likes: Different music from John McLaughlin to Christ Brown, the LAKERS!!!, daffodils, sunrises, late nights with best friends
Goal: For all of our Belles to feel empowered and became fabulous leaders who make a difference in our community!

Campus Culture
Lexi Ibanez
Hometown: Placentia, California
Major: 2nd year, Political Science-International Relations major
About me: I love food, traveling, volunteering, and TV! Mostly shallow dramas, some reality shows, and lots of comedies but I'm a huge Disney Channel buff! I'm a figure skater and love sports! I also love Belles and am very fortunate and super stoked to serve on this year's board!
Goal: As Campus Culture Director, I plan to find more events hosted by other campus organizations our Belles are also involved in. By doing so, BBSA can show their support for other campus groups and build relationships with them.
